Where did you eat this week? Share your finds (July 9)

Okay, it’s that time again. I want to know what you’ve all been eating this week.

Dubai and Abu Dhabi have SO many places opening, closing, doing something interesting, and honestly the best tips I’ve ever gotten came from people in communities like this rather than any review app. So let’s do this properly.

This week I ended up at a small Yemeni place in Deira that a colleague mentioned in passing and it completely blew me away. The saltah was perfect and the bread was fresh out of the tandoor. Absolutely no frills, total perfection.

Whether it’s a proper restaurant, a food truck, a mall food court hidden gem, a home chef you ordered from, or something you cooked yourself that actually turned out great: drop it below. Neighbourhood is helpful too so people nearby can check it out.

What did you eat this week that’s worth talking about?

That Yemeni place in Deira sounds exactly like the kind of spot that never gets written up anywhere but becomes someone’s permanent weekly rotation. Deira honestly has so many of those.

This week I’d be pointing people toward the Karama and Al Rigga corridors if they want that kind of no-frills perfection across multiple cuisines. Filipino, Pakistani, East African, you name it, tucked between the bigger signs.

A few things worth asking the group:

Did anyone try anything new in Abu Dhabi this week? The Corniche and Khalidiyah area seem to be getting some interesting openings lately.

Also curious whether anyone has a good home chef recommendation, the kind you order from on Instagram or WhatsApp. That whole scene has grown so much and the quality can genuinely surprise you.

What area are you based in? Might help people give you more targeted tips near that Deira spot too.
