We operate this community with respect for both international privacy standards (GDPR-style rights) and awareness of the UAE Federal Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL, Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021).

1. Data we collect

  • Account data: username, email address, password (hashed), optional profile information you choose to add.
  • Google sign-in: if you log in with Google, we receive your name, email and profile picture from Google. We never see your Google password.
  • Content: posts, messages, uploads and any other content you submit to the Site.
  • Technical data: IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited — collected via server logs and, with your consent, analytics cookies.

2. How we use your data

  • To operate the community: accounts, posts, notifications, moderation.
  • To keep the Site safe: spam prevention, enforcement of our Terms and of applicable UAE law.
  • To improve the Site: aggregated, anonymised analytics (Google Analytics 4, only with your consent — see Cookies).
  • To contact you about your account or replies to your posts (you control notification emails in your preferences).

We do not sell your personal data.

3. Legal bases

We process your data to perform our contract with you (providing the Site), for our legitimate interests (security, moderation, improvement), with your consent (analytics cookies, marketing emails if any), and to comply with legal obligations.

Your data may be processed by our hosting provider (Communiteq, Discourse hosting, EU-based servers), Google (sign-in, analytics — subject to your consent) and email delivery providers. These providers act on our instructions. Public posts are, by nature, public and may be indexed by search engines.

The Site is operated by a US company on EU-hosted infrastructure and is accessible worldwide, including from the UAE. Where data is transferred internationally we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

7. Retention

Account data is kept while your account is active. If you delete your account, personal data is removed or anonymised; public posts may remain in anonymised form to preserve conversation threads.

8. Your rights

You may request access, correction, deletion, or a copy of your personal data, and you may object to or restrict certain processing. UAE residents have comparable rights under the PDPL. Write to privacy@thecircleuae.com and we will respond within 30 days.

9. Children

The Site is not intended for users under 18.
